After initially pursuing a career in genetics, Amber-Rose Hulme has spent the last four years devoted to her art practice. She works predominantly with pastel on paper, creating photo-realistic scenes of the urban everyday.
2016 has been a busy year for Hulme, with her selection as finalist in several awards including the Rick Amor Art Prize and the Stanthorpe Art Prize affirming her creative direction. In 2015 she was a finalist in the Muswellbrook Art Prize, the Hutchins Art Prize and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize. Hulme first exhibited with FLG in our annual emerging artist exhibition, Exploration 15, and was subsequently signed on to the gallery stable. Her artwork Tranquil Neglect was acquired by the Art Gallery of Ballarat in 2016 for their permanent collection.
